This is my story
Hi,
My name is Melania
I grew up in an environment where love and support were foreign concepts. My childhood was marked by pain and neglect, and as I transitioned into my teenage years, any shred of confidence I had was stripped away. I was never encouraged to dream, let alone pursue something as demanding and beautiful as ballet. Yet, deep inside, there was always a longing, a desire to move, to express, to feel free.
At 21, I finally gathered the courage and started ballet. While I was practicing ballet, I also engaged in tap, martial arts, artistic gymnastics, and jazz dance. Most people start ballet as children, so starting as an adult felt unusual. I knew I was older than most beginners, but I wanted to give it a try and see where it would take me. Yet, persistent doubts and self-criticism gradually undermined my confidence. I convinced myself that I wasn’t good enough, that I had started too late, and that I would never progress into the higher grades. At 23, I walked away from ballet, carrying with me a deep sense of emptiness and unfulfilled longing.
For years, I tried to suppress my love for dance. When I stopped ballet, I only did a bit of Pilates. At 29, I made the decision to return. This time, I approached ballet with a different mindset. I trained six days a week, dedicating 4-5 hours per day to refining my technique and improving my skills. The journey was far from easy. Although my partner stood by my side, the lack of parental support still weighed heavily on me. There were days when the pain of rejection resurfaced, but ballet became my sanctuary. The discipline, the movement, the sheer beauty of expression, it all began to heal me from the inside out.
When I restarted ballet, I also started yoga, seeking balance, strength and flexibility to support my dancing. The more I pushed my limits, the more I realized that I was capable of so much more than I had ever been led to believe. Starting ballet at an older age has not been easy, but I refused to give up. The opportunities I lacked in my childhood and teenage years only fueled my determination. I committed myself fully, training tirelessly to become the best dancer I could be. My passion for flexibility and strength continued to grow, leading me to fall in love with contortionism too. Every day, I work hard to improve, not only in ballet but in all aspects of movement and flexibility. The struggles of my past have shaped me, but they do not define me. Instead, they have made me consistent, resilient, and fiercely determined. Although I never became a professional dancer, that was never truly my dream. Instead, I aspired to be a ballet teacher. I love helping others reach their full potential as dancers, and sometimes, my students even push me to my limits, helping me discover new abilities within myself.
Now, I want to share my knowledge, passion, and advice with anyone who wishes to improve their overall health and enhance their flexibility, strength, and balance. If you are on a similar journey, if you have ever doubted yourself or felt like it was too late, I want you to know that it’s never too late to follow your passion. For anyone looking for guidance in their journey toward strength and flexibility, I would love to connect.
